The VinCase Story:

VinCase was developed to solve a problem that most wine enthusiasts experience frequently when they are away from home for the weekend, out for a special occasion, on a day trip or a vacation. You bring along some great wine only to find that there isn't a proper glass or worse...a disposable cup!

For years we would make our annual ski trip to Lake Tahoe and prominently included with our luggage and gear would be some excellent bottles of wine. Part of the ritual was to meet our friends and share some of our favorite bottles. We'd stay at a luxurious condo resort with full kitchens but they had one flaw- either no stemware at all or those heavy glass ones with 4 or 5 flat sides.

So off we would go trudging though the snow hunting for something reasonable and fitting of our nice wines. Grocery stores, liquor stores, even a "wine merchant" but no luck. Back to the condo and the "mini-goblets."

When I got home, I searched for other products and found lots of different types of baskets, back-packs, neoprene sleeves and novelty clamshell cases. Everything else seems to be marketed to the picnic or tailgate crowd and if the case includes "stemware" they are usually plastic or really small glasses. No serious glasses for serious wine. Nothing suitable for a big red cabernet, merlot, zinfandel or golden chardonnay.

The next step was to find a case so I could design it myself. How hard could that be? It proved to be very difficult as most cases are manufactured overseas and finding the right combination of size, style and quality was a challenge. Luckily, I found a domestic manufacturing facility that was very interested in our unique specifications. Now that I had a case, I needed the interior...

Not all foam is the same as there is a wide range of foam density and weight, and this significant detail might go unnoticed. A long process of trial layouts and prototypes resulted in the high quality foam and proprietary design used by VinCase today. The "velvet" top surface is an additional touch of class and attention to detail that defines VinCase.
